Abstract

The forty-eighth annual meeting of the Society for Music Theory occurred in tandem with the American Musicological Society on November 6–9, 2025, at the Hyatt Regency in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Though not exhaustive, the following is a summary of conference events pertaining to music theory pedagogy.

We are pleased to report that a majority of the time slots over the four-day meeting offered pedagogical papers or sessions. The conference featured posters, conventional papers, lightning talks, special sessions, and a workshop focused on music theory pedagogy. The research shared and ideas explored offered valuable insights, practical applications, and moments of introspection.
